please help my boy just did my valve spring adjustment now noticable powerloss also kinda sputtering
hey whats up the situation all started yesterday when my boy (a mechanic) did my valve adjustment after he was done i turned on the car and it started making a wierd noise and it did not run right (by running right i mean the car was not in motion only the engine was turned on ) so i turned it off and he said that maybe a valve was not functioning normally and that he'll fix it today, so while he was driving me home i was asking him questions and he showed me the paper he printed off of alldata the 8.2 version (mind you that i own a gsr but the top of the paper said rs and ls) so i told him would that have something to do with it and he said no that the heads are basically the same and the readings for the feeler gauge were the same for both motors, so today i get a call from him and he said that he was finished i went to go see the car and it still made a tapping noise and all he could say is thats as good as it's going to get but when i drove it the car still felt wierd i told him and he said its fine but to me its not fine i know my car and i know how the car feels i paid him $50 , then i went home, when the car was cold i turned it on and the rpm went only to 1,500 rpm i was like shouldn't it go higher and it feels like its gonna stut off and it feels like its sputtering a little when im in idle but mind you that the car still runs, i need some help with this any1 know what i can try? one thing i have to mention is that i had a gsr valve cover and changed it to a type r one when i did the valve adjustment i also got the gasket new from honda and the ground screw that i had on the gsr valve cover does not mount on the type r valve cover on the same hole so i grounded it to another hole on the valve cover i dont know if that could be a reason, but any help will do, sorry for the run on sentence
umm, the RS and LS motors have a much tighter valve clearance than the GSR/ITR heads. off the top of my head, i think the B18B has 0.003" in, 0.005" exh and the B18C has 0.006" in, 0.007" exh clearances.
also, it depends whether you fit the feeler gauge between the rocker arm and the cam or between the adjusting screw and the rocker because you will get a different valve clearance depending on how you where you fit the feeler gauges. I know on the GSR you fit it between the rocker and cam, while on the LS i believe it's between the rocker arm and screw.

THE GSR IS NOT THE SAME AS THE LS.. Its not your ground.... tell him to take the head back off and redo it.. and dont half *** it this time. I think he owes you $50 ;0
