reffing a JDM b16a questions
I gotta ref my jdm b16a in my EJ1 (95' Civic Coupe) wondering what else would I need to change to get it to pass.
a stock usdm b16 throttlebody...is what I know so far
oh yeah and how would I disable the knock sensor on my p30 ecu?? I need some guidence on that. something about tappin to the manifold with a wire all the way to your ecu...but I have no idea how to do it and where it would be at on the manifold. if anyone can help me out here...and telling me what to do...I still have a free ref from the last time I had a ref ticket on my jdm single cam and failed. I dont want to let this free reffing go to waste. and I got this JDM b16a from a JDM EG6 thats the story.

JDM engines can and will pass the ref just fine. Thats not the issue.
#1, you don't want to disable the knock sensor. Fix the problem the right way. Half assing things will catch up to you in the end. Leave the ECU 100% stock, make sure its a California emissions group ECU also. Put on the stock airbox for sure and then head out.

Threads like this make me glad to be in NC, VERY slack and easy to get by out here and 93 octane all day long!

WRONG. When I had my swap(JDM b16A) inspected(as you can tell by my sig., it passed) I had an injen CAI intake (meant for the original motor a non-vtec sohc). I passed with a complete JDM everything except the ECU.
1st thing though, make sure the engine is the year or newer compared to the car, if this isn't doine your pretty much FUBARed right off the bat.
Here's what I needed:
-O2 sensor(Brand new genuine honda part, not a cheap bosch universal)
-New Cat(I passed with a hi-flow one, I was shocked, better go as restrictive on this as possibleto pass, you can always take it out later.)
-All wiring done to look like OEM (solder and heat shrink)
-MOST IMPORTANTLY a USDM ECU for that engine
Here's some other things I'd reccomend:
Change all the belts(won't help you pass but, it's added insurance for something not breaking)
Oil change (synthetic oil of course)
Tune up (plugs, wires, cap and rotor)
Pray that you pass(I did and it worked for me...lol)
Also, there's a couple of old threads about the ref stations in the FAQ of this forum, read up on it....not all ref stations are the same, some are real strict and everything has to be just so and then others are more relaxed.

Here's my list of what I did. I have a 96 ek with a b16 in it, in CA, and passed. Your lists look quite short. Keep in mind that my car was also missing a few parts. This is a list I got from the REF. Hope this helps some people out.
p30 ECU US
99-00 CIVIC SI INTAKE MANIFOLD
THROTTLE BODY GASKET
99 CIVIC SI INTAKE BOX
99 CIVIC SI INTAKE ARM AND PIPE
OBD-2 INJECTORS
99 CIVIC SI CAT CONVERTOR
CRANK ANGLE SENSOR
LOWER TIMING BELT COVER
CRANK ANGLE SENSOR SPROCKET
UPPER TIMING BELT COVER
99-00 CIVIC SI CHARCOL CONISTER
INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET
P.S. -- this is also the "correct" way to do it, as far as I know, but I know there are many shortcuts. so w/e take this info as you want

On another note, what I would do first would be to go to the REF have him smog it and look at it and have him give you a list. If you don't, you might end up getting **** you don't really need. Good Luck

depends on where you live dumass, CA has strict emission rules, and that's where DasaEJ1 lives. I don't know about arizona, but I thought that in most states jdm motors had to have USDM parts..?
