I'm trying to tell if mine are bad-- there's a noise coming from one side. I need to see how the upper balljoint sits when it's in place... if it's flush or what. Thanks in advance.

Thats easy... Grab the top of your tire with the car parked. one hand on the inside one on the out and push the top or the tire IN AND OUT for a few seconds very hard and feel for play. If there is then the balljoint is bad.
But watch for crappy baljoint ive seen poor ones not even last 6 months on rough roads.
I know a place with a good solid upper for honda for 29$ USD

Ill try that out. The top of them isn't flush. They each stick out at least 1/4" -- thts why im asking. Thanks for the info.
