Default Who is using a altimeter at the races

How many of you are using an altimeter to tune with at the dragstrip? And what other gauges are needed to tune properly?Absolute Barometer? temp gauge? I have read a little bit about tuning with a altimeter but do not know exactly how to use the info I get from it.

I think your best bet for answers to a question like this might be on a pro-mod racing site or a domestic racers hangout.. those are the guys I normally see wiht the porable weather stations... very good question indeed, just seems like nobody knows the answer here....

wouldn't an altimeter apply to an all motor car, not so much a turbocharged ? seeing A/M cars rely on atmosphereic pressure, I see temperature beeing a greater factor with forced induction. or something like that........good topic anyhoo!

It affects all cars really, not only that but the barometer plays a big role in the way your car reacts. A domestic sport compact guy here uses a portable weather station to judge what his car should be dialed in for the next round. I used it and found it works great in knowing what your car will do the next round. My fastest 1/8th mile time was when the barometer dropped with no other changes to the car. Not that it's too useful in heads-up racing but it's kinda cool to mess with and know how much temps and altitude effect your times.
