Yeah. Imagine that. Imagine trying to memorize locations of 1000 songs, then trying to find one specific song...

Well I have the 'active black panel' cd/mp3 Sony, and it sounds great with 192kbs songs. I'm going to guess it will have a lot of the same functionality as that dvd version, if so, you won't be disapointed. Mine has bbe & dso which I absolutely love, as well as 4 preset and 1 custom 7-band equalizer. Mine can show more text at once than that face, but it shows either: folder/track number with the elapsed time, mp3 name on disc, id3 info, and something else.
Honestly I can understand you wanting a few gigs of music, but once you have an mp3 disc in there, you'll understand it might be too much. Most of my music is 192kbs, which is ~7hrs per disc. It takes me over a week to listen to them all, and I think 5-10 albums on one disc is about all my memory can take. While going navigating to a given album is easy (disc changer +/- functions as folder up/down), it doesn't list that folder's name. CDs and DVDs are about the same $ per MB, so it comes down to scratches taking out 4gb instead of just .7gb at a time. I don't really care for those faces, so for me, less $, a better screen, and less music per disc is perfect for me.
Take a look at the CDX-M8815X, although its harder to find being a 2005 model. Got mine cheap @crutchfield with warranty + 2nd remote + extras for a bit more than ebay.

Probably, check out the specs
I hope they become more mainstream soon so they go down in price and work out any bugs.

Best Buy will have the $229 JVC KDDV5100 in shortly. Going to test it out once on display. Just in time because I just purchased an Alpine i-pod ready deck and was looking to purchase the 60gb and $100 adapter. Saved me several hundred dollars and the Alpine deck is going back since I purchased it last week
I drive 35 minutes one way to work. 8 hours of music gets old after about a week....... 50+ albums (60+ hours) on one disc

Looks like Best Buy is not going to be carrying the JVC 5100 (link was posted above). I've got to return this ipod ready Alpine back to Best Buy and make a move fast. I just purchased the JVC 4200 from Crutchfield for $250 with free shipping. I hope it works out nicely with the giga mp3 discs
