Default trading 04 for 6th gen accord? comments?

I was talking to a tuner friend today and I sat down and thought about what my goals for my car would be, and realized that my current car did not have the capacity to do so. Replacing stuff like engine heads and blocks would be stupid on a 4 cylinder engine. I'd want to possibly make this into track car, but that would be a long-term goal. Not in any way would I like it to be a show car outside of a few body replacements and wheels (which I could transfer over from my current ones).

So, I thought about it some more, and thought that either the Prelude or a v6 6th gen accord could do so. My goals are something more than intake/exhaust/rims/wheels, possibly a turbo or s/c, replacing engine parts, things like that, but all thats in the future.

After running the numbers with the current mods (taking it into carmax for an estimate tomorrow) I figured I could get somewhere in the neighborhood of 19k because I see a lot of accords with similar specs listed for that price on Carmax. Then, I could buy a 2000 Ex-V6 4dr for 16k and throw the 3k leftover into this car along with the few dollars I have left and come out with something faster, better looking, etc etc.

Is this stupid? Should I slap myself in the face and come back to reality? Do any of you have ANY comments whatsoever on this? Feel free to talk me out of this or convince me further.

FYI, I have a 2004 Honda Accord silver LX 4cyl 4dr with 17.5k miles on it at the moment with a custom system in it that I could take out and transfer over. I still have my stock airbox and a set of Michelin Hydroedge wheels with the stock rims and hubcaps.

You should have whacked yourself upside the head 17.5k miles ago, if you're really asking this question now.....
It's really all about Body Style.
If you like the '04, For God's sake keep it and wait for bits to come on line.
If you're enamored with the 6th Gen styles, just be aware you're going to take a whack to the wallet as well as your head

your car is 10X better than more than half of what HT ppl own!!

people are still driving their **** box integras, civics, 90s, 80s hondas and ricing their **** out..dropping hundreds of dollars and grands making their **** fast and nice lookin' but we all know don't we, their car still suck....

its just like the mexicans rolling on 17 chromes in a '88 Sentra... ya get my drift???

but that being said, if you're not happy with your car, i suggest you get rid of it and change it..................

the problem with accord is that it ain't a "Special" car.... because its not a new "breed" ..... for example... the S2000 is a AWESOME car..becuz its one of hondas first RWD platform sports car AND...its a new breed of sports car.... there was never a "1991 Honda S2000"....

i got an 06 accord se 4 dr manual and i'm happy w/ it...don't trade down to an older model.
just like everybody said, just wait a lil more for more parts to come out and plus accord can't go that fast anyways, u have to spend mucho $$$ to make it fast w/ turbo + intercooler + i/h/e + (fill in blank)

in the end, trading down = , might as well get a wrx and go on from there

you guys were right. I smacked myself upside the head and realized how retarded I was. I do like the 6th and 5th gen body styles over the 7th gen any day, but I guess that can be changed somewhat.

After much research and convincing from my other tuner friends, I decided how stupid I was and I'm going to stick with my car and keep modding it, and turbo it in the future.

you could just save up some money and buy a 5th gen accord, so you'll have a track car and daily driver. i like their body styles better, plus you can get them for cheap now and there a hundreds are parts available for the 5th gen accord.

Only if you go the 4cyl route.

if you REALLY wanted to get rid of your 7th, i'd spring for a 97-01 lude. i would punch you if you got another freakin accord lol. don't get me wrong, i love my car as well. but between a lude and a 6th gen accord, the lude has waaaaaaay more potential than any accord out there. i've held out hope for a long time for the aftermarket to catch up with the 7th gen and i'm increasingly becoming pessimistic. whatever you decide to do, make SURE it's what YOU wanna do. hope this helps...

agreed, one of my best friends (and fellow tuner) suggested I do what you said with the prelude. But, I've already put 2 grand into this car (probably a bad mistake on my part but oh well, thats why we're human). For the moment, I'm just going to go ahead and buy a DC header and a HID kit and then save my money towards a turbo, because that's really what I want, a fast car.

Until then, I'm going to punch the head tech at AEM for not making more stuff for the 7th gen. (ie cam gears)

remember guys, I'm 17 going to college in 6 months, and i can't have a job because im playing on the golf team at UNC, so i gotta save my money wisely.

if money is an issue, don't drop $300 on a header if you're just gonna replace it with a turbo manifold down the road. don't worry about cam gears, they'd be pointless on our cars. just think about what you wanna do in the long run and that'll determine what you should and shouldn't do now.

Right now I'm running 2.25" pipe dual 4", will that be big enough to accomadate the turbo? (yes i know i will need a new downpipe, but I'm talking catback)

Also, it seems I'm going to have a custom turbo job done because they don't make kits for any 7th gen accords yet. Can anyone drop me a few hints, helpers etc, how much it might cost, what it cost for you? Any places in the central FL area that you know of that are good for that work?

Again, thanks for all the help.
