short turn radius
im asuming you are looking to have some head work done and the porter told ya that he would elongate the ports rather then the factory short radius ports, the only thing he is saying is that he will port the head wich inturn will open up the ports making them long radius wich will help air flow better thru your chambers
short radius=air flow turbulence
long radius = smoother air flow
short radius=air flow turbulence
long radius = smoother air flow

From what I've all seen and heard (mainly from people entrusted with porting high-hp/expensive heads) is that you want to raise the roof and not touch the floor. Meaning, you want to make that J shape to an L shape - dig out the top and burrow in towards/arround the valve guide.
Most honda heads flow very well anyways, so you want to increase tumble rather than flow - unless its a 9k+ rpm head. Long turn = flow, short turn = tumble. Check other threads to verify, but I do remember most of that searching I did a while back on this.
