ITR w/ factory wheels and 205/50/15 Falken Azenis RT-615 tires....
yeah, I've had the 215's and a set of the 615's and in my opinion they ROCK!! I just wanted to see a ITR w/ stock wheels and the 20550R15 Azenis 615. Let me know!
Here's mine.
I think for me to give your the best opinion on these tires I would need to drive them back to back. I got my 615's put on in March of last year, so its been a while on the 215's. That said. I love the 615, wet traction is much better (tested on the highway, on my way to expo 5), grip seems to be close to the same if not better. My autox times got better but, I got better as a driver. They fit nicely no major rub issues, but from what I've heard they fit the best on 15x7 wheels rather then the 15x6.5. Either way Y-56>***

He asked about factory wheels, which I believe are 15x6.
So what's the deal with the RT-615 sizing? Is the 205/50-15 sized (a) similarly to other 205/50-15 tires; (b) oversized like the RT-215 in that size; or (c) something in between?

not to go OT but, i have a set of the RT-615s on a set of 17"x7.5" TE37s and they're by FAR the best tire i've ever used, and i used the 215s prior to these... i'd never buy or use any other tire

Honestly, I'd say my Potenza S03s (also 205/50/15) look wider in size than the RT615s. The 615s dont seem as wide as the older model 215s seemed but then again this is all speculation.
Not that you can really tell, but heres mine on stock wheels and the 615s. They've now been swapped to 15x7 +40 Rota Slipstreams, which IMO feel a heck of a lot better with the extra 1" in width and wider stance.

There was a time when I had a set of 215 Azenis and a set of 615 Azenis stacked up, 4 high, all of them mounted on 15x7 wheels. They were pretty much exactly the same height. I meant to take a pic, but....TeamLazy pwnz me.
Either tire will give fairly poor steering response on the stock 15x6s, however grip is up there

can the steering response be improved with more air pressure? what would be the drawbacks of adding more air?

I have them, no pics though. They're decent. I like the old azenis better. The sidewall was stiffer, but they're not bad.

The sidewall definately seems softer on the 615s, I am almost positive that it is by a noticeable ammount...

And yeah they fit much better on 7" wide than 6".

anybody have track experience with the rt615? I have the 215's right now and they grease up pretty bad after like 3 laps at Pacific raceways over here in WA. Just wondering if the 615's have the same symptoms or have they improved.

The RT-615 is improved. That is one of the two things that they improved with the RT-615 over the RT-215. (They are also much better on wet pavement, which is probably also important in WA.
)

Absolutely. Azenis will feel far better on a 6.5" or 7" rim.

F- looks! Azenis are hands down ugly but the grippiness more than makes up for the steamroller looks & sounds.
I'll add my $.02 in a few day when I get my 615's mounted. Having daily driven/ raced 215's for a few years, I excited to see how much the "new" ones really improved.
BTW: edgeracing.com has 15's for only $78, but Tires.com will match.

That's true...these tires will look / work better on a 7" wheel instead or a 6"
Only down fall to running the OEM ITR wheel.
