Default oil leak...this blows

pulled up to work and my car smelled like it was burning oil...popped the hood and there is smoke coming from the header and i can see some oil on the ac compressor!

i hope this isn't an oil seal leak...just replaced it maybe ~1000miles ago

any ideas why there might be oil on the ac compressor?

Any pics of the oil leak? Valve cover gasket, maybe? AC compressor is on the very front, drivers side of the engine so I could see it being that, or maybe is your PS pump leaking and it's not oil but PS fluid? Just food for though. Other than that....

no pics...currently at work...i'll look into it more during lunch. i just did a timing belt and replaced the valve cover gasket, i hope its not that, well if anything i hope it is, that will be an easy fix...

i have not check the ps fluid...will look into that.

Most likely then it will be the valve cover gasket. They are easy to replace. The gasket may have just gotten pinched as it's just a rubber gasket. I've seen it happen before to a friend of mines car. As for the PS fluid, that was just a guess as to what might be on your AC compressor. The are both located in the same general area and I've seen the PS pumps leak onto the AC compressor but what the whole thing sounds like is that it's your valve cover gasket. Oil will only leak down and the only seals above the exhaust manifold is the valve cover gasket. I would be willing to guess it has a tear or was pinched when it was replaced. Again though, very easy fix. GL

also check your exhaust cam seal.

if it is bad the 'trail' makes it's way to that area.

For these situations I always dump one of these in my oil:

All you need is a black light and you'll pinpoint the source of the leak. Works great. Just make sure you change your oil after you use the dye.

Just checked it...not dipstick, doesn't seem to be exh cam plug or valve cover or ps...i'm thinking it might be the oil pan gasket...this was replaced as well(aftermarket) but still not sure though, if it is how is it on the ac compressor? dunno just yet...dont think it's the head gasket either motor has 80K...

underneath on the parking lot i can see oil from dripping of the front lower splash guard thingy will be looking at it on sunday, keep ya posted

Check the dipstick holder where it goes into the block. Some here have had the same prob.
