Default motor removal

well, today was the 1st day of the motor rrmoval. i think i might have been able to get it out, but the ******* navy wanted me to run into work for some stupid ****. plus we had some 60mph winds which wasnt fun. i have to drop the exhaust manifold an the axles .

what do u guys do with the ac lines. ive never had ac in the other cars before. it seems like it right in the way. also the power steering pump. did u guys just take that out all together, by just unscrew the 2 bolt that hold the line to pump , back to the firewall? umm i think thats all the questions i have for right now.

for the a/c there are 2 ways to do it legally you can either go have the system evacuated by a professional so you can remove the system or you can unbolt the compressor and just bend the lines so you get it out of the way while pulling the engine.

the power steerin I would say just disconnect the lines from the pump and put them off to the side.

Personally I don't disconnect any lines.
For Power Steering I just unbolt it from the mount and just move it to the side.
For the A/C I just unbolted it from the mount and pulled it close to the radiator and just lef it there. Then you will have to play a little bit with the lines when taking/installing the engine so that they don't get stuck anywhere or with the motor.

Good luck

if you know for sure the a/c lines aren't charged (a/c def. doesn't throw cold air) disconnect them. it's a LOT easier to get a motor in/out with them disconnected

So your axle is stuck in the hub? Try some wd4o/pb blaster and let it soak for a while, then gently tap it out. If your getting new Axle nuts(big 36mm bastards) i threaded mine on so the flat part is facing you and hammer on it alittle bit and mine came right out.

well i got a question for when i get my motor back.

as you know from the posts above i had to strip my motor, one of the things i had to take off was the distributer. what needs to be done when i do this. this is what i was thinking. put the #1 at TDC an put the dizzy in, an line it up with the mark i made before taken it off. does this sound right.

Dizzy will only go in one way on 5th gen ludes. Timing is computer controlled if you have the stock ecu. The tabs are machined so you can't put it in 180 out so if your #1 cylinder is at tdc you're good to go. Just make sure you have your wires right!

/\Some of the bolts are different lengths, just wait till you get everything back and stab the tranny and then you will be able to see which bolts go where( post some pics when you do so we can help)

yea man you sound pretty smart so you'll see on the tranny where the longer and shorter bolts go. but if you have probs take some pics of the bolts and the area of the tranny youre struggling with and the prelude powers that be in my apartment will help you out with the locations

did you remove your engine to build it??? what are you doing do it????
