Default Wheel Stud Replacement: 92-96 Prelude

I have searched and read some of threads. Some guys have said they notched the hub and slightly shaved the head of the wheel stud to make it slide in easier rather than remove the entire hub. What I want to know is: will that throw off the balance of the hub? any harm to the hub down to the road? will the wheel stud end up breaking/cracking down the road?

it should not destirb the balance of the hub. when I put in 2 wheel studs I had to do the same thing. I just shaved off as much as I would need to fit past the hub. and air tools help when replacing these.

I never had a problem with one breaking after I put the new ones in. You only shave a little off the head none of the threads/stud itself.

Yea, I know you shave off a minimal amount on the wheel stud and not the threaded part. I'm not as much worried about the wheel stud as I am as doing any damage to the hub... any other opinions?

guys, studs are meant to be pressed in, hammering will work though

by using washers and a lug nut you are spinning it into place, unless you took special care to not let it spin, but if it did, you ruined the effect of the raised ribs, they are meant to hold it into place

the only real way to do these is to separate the hub and use new wheel bearings when you put it all back in...
