I am gonna say kosei K1's i own 16" silvers on my 97 EX and i am about to buy 15" gunmetal for my hatch, i haven't had any problems yet except for when i dropped my car 2", the wheel would hit the top of the upper control arm in the rear, you just have to file like 2mm off of the control arm. my wheels have been through the harsh roads where i live and have seen the depths of many pot holes and there still as true as can be.
I like the gunmetal K1 too......but they don't make it for my car

Biggest difference is the K1s are 15x7 and the Rotas are 15x6.5. Definitely go with the K1s. I've got two sets, just be sure to get the +43 offset or you won't be able to fit 225s without rubbing on the fender lip.
my opinion is :
K1
-japanese made
-weigh 13 lbs
-stronger than Rota
-15 x 7
Rota shipstrim
-a copy wheel
-heard too much bad things about it
-not even taiwanese made

On a side note, Kosei K1 is the same rim as Buddy Club P1 -- Kosei makes the OE for Buddy Club much like Desmond manufactures the SW388 for Spoon.
Ofcourse this is not to be confused with forged Mg Buddy Club P1 QF... that's definitely not the K1!

IMO K1
best bang for the buck. I bought it when it came out and I love it. It used to be quite expensive by that time but I don't mind coz the quality worth it. It's even better now coz it's just around 750-800cdn for a set of 4 here in BC. With a set of brand new Toyo T1-S 195/55R15 it's under 15lbs as I remember.
Rota slipstream
made in Philippines knock off with poor quality and strength. Saw a pic somewhere long long time ago with a cracked in half Rota wheels in it.

What size of tires run best with Kosei K1's 16"? They are 16 X 7.5
(Rota Slip are 16X7 at 13.5lb)
Can I run the JDM OEM 215/45-16 or even 225/45-16 with them?
Tirerack recommends 205/45-16, which not offer by the Azenis, A032R, Victoracer700. The only choice is Hoosier R3S03....
And does anyone know how much the 16" weight?
Sigh...performance should be the one I look after, I don't really liked the way they look with those thin strokes.

In defence of Rota, you cannot compare them with something like Spoom, which is made in Taiwan.
Just because Rota is made in Phillipines, you can't condemn them altogether! I believe they have ISO certification for their factories and produce pretty good quality rims. In fact, they're so affordable while offering decent strength that they are a good choice, in my book, since they're low maintenance -- any significant scratches and you haven't lost money on resale. In fact, you can even replace the rim if you feel like it.
Another popular knock off I've suddenly come aware of is Lenso from Thailand. These ppl enjoy knocking off Advan and especially 5Zigen rims. They pride themselves on having their wheels used on the Eclipse on F&TF. No comments on the though.

Don't get me wrong, the slipstreams are very decent wheels for its price but since both wheels will throw him out of stock class in autox. I would choose a 7" wheel instead of 6.5" for 205 tires or maybe 225 in the fulture. Kosei is made in Japan and slipstream is in Phillipines.... I would go with Kosei for a little more money, but that's just me.
PS. and you can avoid ppls to ask you " Is that a fake spoon?"

Yup....I will use the K1 or Rota Slip as my daily driving wheels and keep my stock wheels for R-compound tires. I decide to stay in DS ...... !!!

Not that I know either, nor do I have either of these wheels, but I don't think that it is fair to claim that one is stronger than the other.

Ok. first I'll point out that I currently OWN both slipstreams and K1s.
K1s: Nice wheels, pretty light, haven't tested them against curbs yet
Currently has my bfg r1s on them. The wheels quality is NOT all that great, they aren't very well balanced (at least mine werent) when new compared to the *same* tires on my rotas and my OEM wheels.
Slipstreams: People say they are weak, well I had a curb/side impact and only one wheel is SLIGHTLY bent, this was a 40ish mph clipping impact against a curb and sign post which caused over $3,000 worth of damage to my car. Weak? I'd say no. I also curbed one of the same ones I curbed before last weekend, did not bend or anything else.
Cliff Notes: My SPU car will be running rota slipstreams. 1 with rain tires and 1 with dry tires. Might keep the K1s as well, but am thinking about selling them.

isn't the kosei a knock off to the buddy club?
I am now running Azenis in 215-45-16. However, anyone who has these tyres will tell you that they are oversized and are more like other brands of 225's.
