Default Civic R vs Accord R vs Integra R

Did not exactly know where to post this, but here goes anyway.

What is similar and what is different between these three models?

And which one is better?

Well, you know the diffs between a Civic, Integra, and Accord. Same goes for the R models.

Integras are Civic-based, so those two are going to be pretty close in performance and character. Accord is on a different chassis, has 2 more doors, more weight, etc etc.

If I didn't have a DC2R already, and all three models were offered in the U.S., I would have a hard time picking.

The EK9 and DC2R are similiar, but not the same. Suspension are almost the same. Some of the parts internally be swapped over. The transmissions are the same as well.

EK9 and DC2R's use B series engines

I believe the UKDM Accord R is an H series motor. And I could have sworn that at least one of the models came with a 6 speed transmission.

well... the CTR vs. the ITR on the track... the ITR wins stock for stock
the Euro R Accord is definitely heavier and would be put in last from the other 2

If you're basing all 3 Rs from the newest version...
EP3/DC5/02^ Accord Euro R
They all have the same motor but the weight and chassis is different
EP3 and DC5 are VERY similar

blah blah you get the point

the ITR definitely wins IMO

The new Euro Accord R is the same as the TSX but with a K20A from the DC5R.

The old Euro Accord R was a unique car to Europe, and had a 5spd LSD H22 that made 210hp I believe...

The new (EP3) CTR is a K20A as well, same suspension design as the DC5R with a shorter wheelbase. Does not have the 4pot brembos though.

The old (EK9) CTR used a B16B, which is a destroked B18C (same block as ITR with different crank and rods/pistons). The chassis was a bit different than the DC2 ITR, but very similar.

The new (DC5) ITR uses the same K20A as the EP3 CTR and '02+ Euro Accord R, but with a unique intake manifold and camshafts which gives it a few more ponies. Also has some nice looking 4-pot Brembo's up front.

The old (DC2) ITR was based off the EG civic chassis, and uses the B18C motor.

The EK9 and DC2 are arguably the most 'raw' of all the R's every produced, even compared to the first iteration of the NSX-R back in '91.

Actually the DC5 and JDM EP3 share the same engine, the difference is the exmani, the DC5 has the 4-2-1 and the EP3 has the K20A2 mani from the RSX-S. And both the DC5 and EP3 have 2570mm wheelbases.

I for one STILL love the old Accord Euro R. That car was just very nice. BTW you can get one now for less than £5k which is about at least $8kUSD. It'd be nice to own one of those cars. Talk about rarer than rare for a stateside car...

Did the Euro Accord R (last gen) have the same chassis attention? Seam welding, additional bracing, etc.?

The old Accord Type R was stateside...at least 2 copies. The Honda execs in Marysville, Ohio drive them around the area quite frequently back in the late 90's.

I personally saw the car on two different occasions with my own eyes. Once was at a local motorcycle shop, the other was at Mid-Ohio. I think someone snapped some pics of it at Mid-Ohio. They were on vtec.net waaay back in the day.
