Is this a really hard job? Could I get it done in the front yard with hand tools and jacks?

I will also be replacing the bushings, boots, washers, nuts and all that good stuff while I am in there.

How bad could I actually screw up?

only thing you could really messup is your alignment. just make sure evrything goes back in the right place and every bolt is torqued to spec.
