Default temperature sensor

i have this 92' ex accord...actually its my moms, but anyway. it hasn't been turned on for about 2 months or something. about 3 days ago, i started it up and the temperature gauge needle was on the "H". then roughly about a minute or 2, it went towards the middle a bit then went up again. is it just the sensor being retarder and freaking out?

This sounds like the temp sensor is going south, it is a single wire connector in the head under the dist. the way to test it is to unhook the connection, then turn on the ignition..gauge should stay low; then ground the wire and the gauge should start heading to hot. Don't leave it grounded too long you don't want to 'peg' the gauge. If things don't work as described, the guage may be at fault.

Blame the double post on "flood protection"

also try this .......take wire out of temp sending unit.. put key on and start car,, if temp gauge goes to hot , you got a wire shorted to ground or a bad gauge///........
I have seen a few bad gauges ..

could be, but i would test the wires from the sensor first, i think it's the yellow green wire in the bay, it should read 6volt after warm up/driving temp
