Ok i blew my y8 engine so i bought a y7 engine and i was going to swap heads to keep the vtec but i broke the camshaft during the swap. I dont have enough money to buy a new camshaft so im looking for a ecu. Now i put the IM fuel rail and headers from the y8 onto the y7 now would that keep it from staying started? Ive read that the car should run off the y8 ECU but shitty. When i start it up it will run for about 10 seconds and die. Then its like it throws the car off timing. I have no clue but if someone could answer my question Id apprechiate it. I know i need to either get the vtec head back on or get a y7 ecu but im just asking about the whole it dying thing.

 

that is quite a predicament. Unfortunately I have no idea how you'd fix that.

 

except for vtec, the y7 and y8 ecu's are the same, so unless you're revving into vtec range it should run just fine. Can you give any more details about what the motor is doing from when you crank it to when it dies? does it make any unusual noises? What are the rpm's doing during those 10 sec?
