Default Honda Music Link or somthing else?

I am considering a 2006 Si with Navi.
My question is should I get it with the Honda Music Link (Honda's ipod interface) or something else? Eventually I want to put a system in it while retaining the factory head unit so i will be using something similar to the JL CleanSweep.

Any information anyone can provide on the Honda Music Link would be greatly appreciated. Cost? Does the factor head unit let you use all the iPod functions?

I don't know any thing about it but i there are links to information on the apple website. My personal opinion is that you should go for it espically if you are keeping the stock hu. What i do know aobut it is that there is a dock conector in your glovebox that you just plug the ipod into and control it from the radio with a display and everything.

I would get the Honda Music Link option for my next Honda (details in a few weeks or months due to dispute not being settled yet).

The Honda Music Link is $214 MSRP (shown in the Civic Si 06 Build & Price section)

The Honda Music Link includes:
Honda Music Link $189
Audio Sub-Harness $15
Honda Music Link Attachment Kit $10

Here is a picture:

I don't know if installing aftermarket speakers or what it is that you mean by "system" will void the warranty or not, but I think it will, so it would be a good idea to get the Honda Music Link. I assume that the factory head unit will control all iPod funtions since it is a factory option and is shown in Apple's iPod website.

Thanks for the info.

I have never owned a car with warranty and my current car has the stock radio.

WTF. The Honda Music Link sucks. I can't believe it doesn't display iPod info on the radio screen. Adding those files on the iPod also sucks.

I guess I won't be getting the Honda Music Link.
Good thing you got this info for everybody to how crappy this product is.

so what if it doesn't display on the headunit, just look at the ipod screen.

regardless I dont think anything ipod is worth it. you're just buying a name.

get rca adaptors and plug in anything else you want that has a headphones port. I have an mp3 player that works with rhapsody to-go (unlimited songs, perfectly legal, nothing like it for the ipod [legal that is]). plus friends on long trips plug in their laptop and watch movies while using the car speakers for a sound system
