Since you're new I'll tell you, don't get 16" or 17" wheels. Not only will they look ridiculous, but nobody on HT will help you when they rub against your fenders and stuff, they will only tell you to go back to the fat fives. Really, 15" is your best bet, especially if you are racing. I know you can drop around 2" with 15" wheels, but beyond that I don't know.

Nothing wrong with 16s.....

But just so you know I've had a CRX dropped 3"+ on 17" wheels with no rubbing. 205 tire is key, but 17" is really too big.

i have 17" x 7" and they rub only when you have the wheel cut all the way and hit a bump to fast it is only lowerd maybe 1.5"

Edit: for to mention that usually the only reason tires wear is not from rubbing but from your camber because of it being lowered

17's are not going to be your best choice. They will make your car ride like a hay wagon. I would leave you current 15"s on there for several reason ride, you can lower a little more, and tires are cheaper. Stay with the 15's.

Agreed, but if you insit on bigger wheels Use...
17"- 205/40-17
16"- 215/40-16 or 205/40-16
