Would you guys rather go with an h22a1 or h22a4 and swap it in a del sol? Id rather not have to re sleeve when later on when I boost. you think i should get h22a4 then? or you prefer the closed deck and i just fork out the extra cash. thanks for the info.
The issue will probably be more between obd1 and obd2. If you aren't going to sleeve, I can't imagine you going over 8-9psi. At those levels I don't think it'd matter whether its open or closed deck. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I certainly do believe that they work because Mahle is basically the world's largest piston manuf. and they're good at what they do. After all, they do supply the Ferrari F1 team.
To be honest I don't think anyone has had the frm sleeves fail before the piston due to boost, so maybe someone else can comment on how much the sleeves will take. H-series owners so far have always resleeved to iron only so they could use forged pistons.

From what ive read on this board in the FI forum there is a thread on Mahle pistons and people have had little problems. Most the problems that I read of were early on when Mahle didn't have the valve reliefs correct. So imo Yes Mahle pistons are an option.. one that I will be using when rebuild time rolls around.
As for your H22 DelSol I think it would work but you have to understand the DelSol has a weak chassis that is fairly heavy compaired to the other Civics.

ive read good things about the mahle pistons. When they first came out is when they had problems. I cant find any guides on swapping a h22 into a sol do you guys have any that you can show me? ive been searching and have read a few on swapping them into civics and thats good but i need a sol one. thanks

Get a JDM H22a, closed deck and 10.6 to 1 compression for an extra 10 hp rating over the USDM.
BTW: There was a guy on here who swaped a H22 into a del sol...Mid-engine, rear-wheel drive. CRAZY! Beyond any normal person's budget but it was very intresting.
