Default 3000 rpm problem

I just did a B16A swap into my 90 CRX DX and everything was fine, but the other day when I went for a ride I started out fine, but when the car got to 3000 rpm it wouldnt go any faster and it just jumped around alot like it was backfiring. I dont have an exhaust on it, but it wasnt doing it before, does anybody know what is wrong?

The only code its throwing is the code 14 Idle Air Control Valve (IACV sensor) and we tried to switch the wires around.. but it didnt do anything. So then I got a new sensor and that seemed to do nothing also. I put new plugs, and cap and rotor and now I was gonna change the wires. What else should I try to do?

this is probalby the only time i'll say something like this, but the caps writing was right. but by the look of it, he was kidding. but, yeah, if it's got a rev limiter at 3000, that's definitely limp mode. but code 14 shouldn't cause it. does it have a wall there even if you floor it?

which b16 do you have? obd0 or obd1?

anyway, good luck.

Same exact thing happened to me on my obd0 B16 swap. I'd be willing to bet that it's your distributor. Most likely the crank angle sensor. Fix that and you'll be good to go.

I went through about 3 distributors, and the problem kept coming up. I finally decided to ditch the OBD0 and go for an OBD1 B16.

Sounds like limp mode. Check your ECU, ECU connections, then do a basic visual of all the stuff, might just be a messed up sensor. I had a crank angle sensor go once and it was stuck in limp mode...I've even seen corroded wires at the ECU plugs that made an 89 Integra stay in limp mode.

how can I check to see if the crank angle sensor is bad is there any tests I can do to it? And where do I spray the starting fluid? Or should I just bring it into the shop and have a mechanic check it?

I dont know what I did but I took the battery out for a while and then put it back in and now it runs like a champ. I'll see if it does it again, its going into the shop on Tuesday to get the exhaust put on and I'll have the guy look at it. The only code is 14 now and idk what to do, its been like that since the swap was put in.
