my cousins 99 si got stolen last week. it has been totalled. im thinking of buying it back from his insurance if they make an offer for it. engine is still there. heres what it is missing:

entire front end except the hood
side skirts
tail lights
all speakers
wipers
si wheels
door panels
cluster
dash
anything with buttons in the interior
center console
ecu
floor mats
all seats
interior visors

what would be a good price to negotiate with them?

just ask him to ask the insurance if they are willing to give it back for free. my brother got his 95 gsr back and there was less parts missing. he also got $11500 in cash for it.

I say buy it back & get all those parts from Junkyards, Street sellers, Online forums, etc.....You can do it......I've seen people do it! You may wanna check the motor before buying unless you don't care about it. Goodluck!

if it's a total they'll give you two options.

Number one: the total amount if the insurance company keeps the car.

Number two: The amount less salvage value (usually around 35% less than total value).

You won't have to "buy it back", you'll just have to accept less than total value for it because it'll be branded salvage.

I've been through this several times. Shoot me a PM if you have any other questions.

it all matters where you live... Every State has different rules regarding theft recovery cars.. In oregon, you can buy it back and put it back together... Do it, if you dont want it, then let me know how much it is to buy it..
