98 honda accord 5 speed transmission lx
the problem is i was driving one day and i was on the interstate, i was in fifth gear, meanwhile driving during around 75 the fifth gear just disappeared, however the rpm went up so i switch back to fourth and kept going. however, everytime i go into the gear all i get is rpm. Is it possible that the oil could be low in the trany, or do i just have a bad one, never had problems with the trany at all. can someone help
The description you give is a probable slipping clutch; go driving down the hwy at good speed then while holding the throttle steady 'bump' the clutch pedal ....if the rpms rise and stay high you need a clutch replacement.
check the transmission fluid level before you drive the car more in case it is low on fluid. could be that simple. if not, sounds like your transmission could be going if this only happens in 5th gear.
if you stomp on it in, say, 3rd does it hold power the whole time?

quoted for future reference. that's almost sig-worthy.
are you ok? so you think a manual transmission runs dry?
hint: there is fluid in your manual transmission. it's called MTF, which is short for manual transmission fluid. check the level. have a nice day.
