Transmission question
Hi All,
2001 Accord V6
I notice this weekend, that when I shifted from P to D4 that the light on the gauge in the cluster didn't turn green. Matter of fact it didn't light up at all, but all the other gears lighted up. And today when I was driving the light on the D4 wasn't on, until mid-way to work ( about 10 to 12 miles). So my questions is this a sensor problem or something else?
Thanks in advance.

There is a switch assembly mounted the center console which not only tells the PCM/TCM the gear range selected by the driver, but also operates the dash cluster gear range display and the key interlock system.
You were lucky that it was operating when you got home for the night. If it wasn't, you would have been doomed to an hour (or more) of &*^%$ until it decided to release the key

So do I need to change something? The D4 light reappeared on my way to work today thou. So is it a light bulb behind the gauge? Sensor? or something else?
B4 condemming anything, check what connections you can see at the transmission. It sounds like something loose, or intermittant. The 6th gen shift assembly has changed from the 5th and shows only a 'park' switch at that location. Let me chase this down furthur.
