It is there for a reason... differential and transmission protection. With an upgraded clutch you can still spin the tires on launch and hard 1-2 shifts- AND you don't have to worry as much about breaking parts.

Yes, but there are still people out there who assume Honda engineers are dumber than the average car enthusiast. If you can crap that housing on 153 lbft of torque, 162lbft will surely own it. I'm still researching whether or not Honda improved on the AP2 housing. Any one have proof?

ap2 rear diff is almost the same as having an ap1 diff with a comptech housing...
alot of people upgrade to the ap2 diff and change the yolk so they can use the drive shaft from ap1...
ap2 diff can still blow though, its not bulletproof...

You don't HAVE to change the yoke flange. If you do, you're limited to using the 6mm hex bolts (Ap1) that are more prone to stripping, not to mention its less beefy thant he AP2's 8mm bolts.

thats actually not true the comptech is quit a bit stronger then the ap2, tho ap2 is a lil stronger then ap1. Ill try to find the thread where they compared the three side by side.
