locking mechanism
after pouring hot water on my friends icey ls today....i was able to get the door open after several times but once open....i realized that once the alarm was locked the door was still opening.....when i went in the car to hit the lock/unlock switch the button did not move all the way so now in order for him to lock it he has to manually move it to the lock mode then close the door. even with this the lock position is not where it should be. does anybody have any info on how I can fix this for him. maybe like pushing the key in the part of the door that clicks into the side that enables the door to lock? any ideas?
are you talking about the switch?
like the switch wont depress? if so, probably got some goo in it, try cleaning with it unplugged, use a rubbing alcohol.
are you talking about the lock cylinder not working? if so the tumblers are screwed up (from overusage, it happens) so you'll have to code the tumblers and replace the cylinder.
actuator could be an issue. check the actuator after the car is a warm temperature (get it in a garage for a few ours) for proper operation.
the only other problem you might have is a rod problem, like a rod is bent. you'll have to replace the bent rod.
good luck

sorry about the wording lol, its not the switch that locks and unlocks its the actual part that moves when you hit the switch, i cannt get it back it just stays halfway stuck....unless its the cold...
might be the cold
pull the door panal and look at the rods to see if they are moving correctly. spray some grease on all joints and pivots then try again
the actuator might be cold or getting weak also

check source voltage before ditching the actuator though... make sure you're getting proper power through the switch. i had one of those bite me before. stupid old cars and corrosion
