Car won't start, please help!!! B16A, has spark and fuel!
Hey guys, I just put my b16A back in my CRX. It ran fine before I had to swap a piston out.
It is getting spark and fuel.
I have a CEL 6 for the ECT sensor. It broke from old age. Getting a new one tomorrow (or tonight if I get this bitch running).
Crank to cam timing is correct. #1 cylinder TDC and cams pointed/lined up (arrow up)
I cant think of a damn thing that could keep it from starting. It wont even fire for some reason. It just turns over and over like its a timing issue, but I checked and rechecked that.
ANyone got any ideas?
TIA!

If you are sure you are good on spark and fuel, have you checked the compression on the cyl? Why did you change the piston out? Maybe a bent valve? You have any headwork done?
took the injectors out of the IM with them still in the rail and also checked the clips for power. Clips had power, and the injectors did not squirt fuel out when I turned it over with them out of the manifold. Everything elese should be fine...we'll see.
Anybody ever deal with The Distributor King on ebay? The 'prongs' that stick into the intake cam broke off, and I emailed him today asking fora replacement via the warranty he sells with his dists. No response yet....I just used my old distributor with his parts in it. (my old ignitor went bad)

yes i have they are a good company i bought an obd 0 dizzy from them for a b16a and it worked great, next check ur compression I just went through the same thing on my rebuild and it was because the machine shop did the valve job but didn't grind the tops of the valves and i had to adjust them

Okay, got the injectors cleaned, and they still arent squirting. Is it normal for the injectors to have power at all times or should they only get power when they are supposed to squirt? or does the ground alternate on each injector to cause them to squirt? Is my resistor box bad? Is there a way to check this?
TIA!
TIA!
how much voltage is at the clips?
have you checked the resistance on the coils?
I dealt with distributor king here on h-t a few months ago.
He sent me a new distributor when i had a warranty issue.

I dont have a voltmeter. I just used a standard checker with a light inside. I'm gonna see if some stock d series injectors will squirt for me. I'm also going to recheck all my grounds and plugs and stuff again. Have to wait tillthe morning though
Its been a few days since I emailed dist king and no response yet....

sorry i also read that you said your distributor fins snaped? that means you put it in the wrong way, it looks close, but it only goes in one way. ive broken that too long long time ago. just get another dist. its not gonna work if its broken
nah, it was in correctly. It broke while driving. It wouldnt even run if I had put it in wrong...
Update: I got te injectors to squirt after a bunch of double checking plugs, relays etc. Put them back in the intake manifold and it still doesn start. TOnight after work, I'm gonna go back and check my timing again. Actually, I'm gonna pull the timing belt off and set timing all over again. Thanks for the input guys!

oh one more thing
im not kidding on this
do you know where the main relay is? the one near the hood release. take it out and tap it a couple of times, plug it back in, the car should start. do this before you pull the timing belt. super common problem among 88-91

My last crx had a main relay problem. This one doesn't....yet. I got it started and its running again.
HEre's what myproblem was: When I Saw that the fingers on the distributor were broken; instead of taking an hour to take the ignitor out of this one and putting it and everything else in my old(spare) dist, I just swapped the part that has the fingers on it. Well, since when you put that on, it isnt directional, I got that piece on 180 degrees out. Got home, spent 2 minutes taking the dist off and rotating that piece 180 and put it back on and it fired right up.
The injectors not firing....I'm not sure what I did to fix this. I messed with the eec relay, the main relay, fuse box, t-stat ground, and a few other things, but afterI got fed up with it, I decided to run a wire from the t-stat ground and move it to the battery ground, just to see if that would help, and I saw that the distributor was unplugged at that time. For whatever reason, I dont know why. I swear it was plugged in before....but its always the things you thought you did but forgot to do
Thanks for the help.

just curious, the distributor in our older cars act as the crank angle sensor, so the distributor tells the ecu when to fire the injectors. did they still not fire even after you fixed the distributor?

I cant remember
I Was frustrated and trying everything I could.....But once I turned that end piece around, it worked fine
Now I just have a massive vaccum leak somewhere causing a 2K-2300 rpm idle....
