Default Bhp? SAE Net HP? Difference?

Okay, I just noticed that the 2006 RSX Type-S is rated 201Bhp. What's the "B" stand for? Why not Whp? And what is SAE Net HP? Is that the usual horse power rating all the car manufactures have been using?

bhp = base horse power
whp = wheels horse power
SAE is some sort of government rating system i think

car manufacturers don't take the timt to fully build a car and then have it dyno'd. and not every whp dyno reads the same or is very accurate for that matter. and then there's a difference in whp depending on what gear you are in when you run on the dyno...its just easier to measure engine **** power, and it sounds more powerful since bhp is always more than whp.

SAE - Society of Automotive Engineers

Easiest way to say this is when they made the H22, it's rated for 190 hp at the crank without any accessories. Now, manufacturers are required to give hp at the wheels, so an RSX makes 201 at the wheels with the AC on

The RSX makes 200+ at the wheels stock?

I think what he means is at the crank with ac on. Otherwise known as horsepower at the flywheel.

Um, no. It's been awhile since gross horspower ratings have been used. The new SAE ratings and the SAE ratings that we had before them were both net hp at the crank. (this means accessories on the engine, exhaust systems on the engine, etc, etc).
The new SAE ratings are just a little stricter than the old ones, so they mean roughly the same thing as the old ones...no "201 at the wheels" bs.

And it's Brake Horsepower. "Brake" reffers to the brake that is used in a dyno to load up the engine. It's usually assumed that it is connected to crank or flywheel, but all it really means is "measured horsepower". It could technically be measured from anywhere.
(Measured horspower as opposed to theoretical, calculated horsepower)
