Default tranny compatiability between h23 and h22's

I have a 5-Speed manual 92 Prelude Si with a H23A1 that i believe has a spun bearing. I'm planning on swaping a H22A and keeping the tranny/axles. I just want to make sure that I dont end up with an engine i cant use, or have to buy another tranny because mine is still fine. Also is it possible to use a 97-2001 h22 along with a obd1 - obd2 conversion and the same tranny??? I would like a newer engine due to the miles of obd1 engines. thanks for the help.

you can still get obd-1 engine with low miles. you should contact hmotorsonline.com and see what they have.
and as far as converting an obd-1 to obd-2, you can swap all the emission parts from one motor to the next. i have swapped parts from an obd-2 motor to an obd-1 motor, thus making it an obd-2 motor. there are write ups on what you need to swap. but if you want, yes you can do the wire harness thing, but then you also have to do a bunch of modifying i believe to make the obd-1 motor harness work with the obd-2 motor. also, you will have to wire in VTEC. if youthere are also write ups for this.
and finally your transmission question. yes the transmission will bolt up, the clutch and everything will work, the mounts can be used, axles can be used...basically you're good to go with your h23 tranny and everything.
a word of advice: you will notice more power with the h22, but the transmissions do not pair up well in my opinion. the gear ratios do not match the h22 power and torque curves at all. you can get the h22/ tranny swap for a reasonable, and you may want to consider paying an extra $400 for a tranny that will make a world of difference. but this is just my opinion...

Get a H22 that was NOT atts, or you'll have to make/buy a bracket for the intermediate shaft.

H23 tranny can be used BUT get a Vtec controller so you can play with the vtec engagement to match the shifting. that way you dont over rev the motor to keep the engine in Vtec between gears. if you have the money then go ahead and get an h22 tranny.

Agreed. But if you plan to make 200+ hp, you'll like having the H23 transmission. You won't have to shift quite as much. It costs acceleration on low power engines, but improves it in high power engines
