i posted this in the hybrid forum but i thought i would give the ITR forum a try as well
I have been working on restoring a theft recovery ITR shell for some time now and I am on the home stretch in getting the car up and running, but I have stumbled on to a big problem I was wondering you guys could help solve for me.
The car is a 2000 USDM Integra Type R (that has an immobilizer equipped as standard equipment). My engine is a 1998 USDM Integra GSR OBD 2 Motor with a GSR Tranny with a lot of goodies
.

The problem is that when the sons of bitches stole my poor car they were not smart enough to unplug the fucken engine harness clips. Instead the asshats opted to cut the whole engine harness. I had to take on the lovely job of matching all the f-en wires back together. I managed to match all of the wires except 3 wires.

In this picture you can see that I have 2 wires that are labeled "A" and 1 wire labeled as "B". Now the problem is that the 2 wires labeled A have the same color (which is a black wire with a yellow strip and 1 silver dot running along the length of the wire.)
My question is will it make a difference which wire on the complementary end is matched up with its counter part?

the primary problem I ran into at the end while I was matching wires up was on the harness that came off the engine I had 2 (black wires with yellow stripes and 1 silver dot), and 1 (blue wire with 2 silver dots).
While on the other hand the engine harness that came off the car had 2 (black wires with yellow stripes and 1 silver dot), and 1 (white wire with a green stripe). this was my biggest worry because while I was looking through my helms manual the white wire with the green stripe had a lot of different possibilities (like alternator, immobilizer, horn, security system the list goes on.

If I can get any of these questions answered I would be forever indebted to the person who helps me out:
1.) Will it matter what (black wire with a yellow stripe and 1 silver dot) I match up with the other wire on the complementary side?
2.) What is the primary purpose of the (black wire with a yellow stripe and 1 silver dot) in the engine and in the car?
3.) What is the (white wire with a green stripe) that is coming from the ITR's engine harness do? (What is it for?)
4.) What is the (blue wire with the 2 silver dots) that is coming from the engines harness serve or do? (What is it for?)
5.) What wires should be matched up with each other? (If I have not listed them)
Any help is GREATLY appreciated due to the fact that I have had no luck here in town in finding an answer. The funny thing is that Acura didn’t even know what to tell me

I don't have the answer for you but a suggestion to maybe get the ball rolling:
Do you have access to a 2000 ITR helms?
Do you have access to a 1998 GSR helms?
Both will break down what the purpose is of each wire.

hey brando yes i do have the 98-01 integra helms and it is insane i cant make sense of the diagrams they have in the book. it seems like they are reffering to something else and no emphasis on the engine bay. i could be wrong

Ive rebuild over 10 stolen recovery integras... when I have cut harnesses I always change the complete car harness...
YES it is a BIG paint in the ***, but at least this way you dont run into any problems, and its plug and play!!
I know you can wire them back one to one, but make sure you are using the same year connectors because colours do change... best bet is to get the service manuel and go over the schematics for the wiring diagram!
I still cant figure out why these morons love the cut the harnesses,, last time i checked its much faster to unplug a clip rather then cutt 50 wires!
Sorry
Tyler

Ok let me me see if i got this right. They cut the chassis harness that plugs into the motor harness correct? If so, where did you get the new connectors from (meaning, what model and what year integra). The wires do change depending on year so you can't always just go match colors.

he is right, the LAST thing you want, is to be tracing a wiring problem in a sea of cut wires
I have done it a couple times, and it;s really not that bad. Did it in an EG, and did while rebulding a 2000 ITR.
The EG, every wire from the tail lights to head lights had to be replaced

On my car (00ITR) That white wire with the green stripe goes to nothing. On the male end of the connector its there and then when plugged into the female the slot for that wire is blocked off.
I'm doing research on the others!!

walker111 = a badass and deserves lots and lots of *****
(nice ***** not cheap ones
)
back to the topic i still need to get it resolved. your theory about the white wire with the green stripe and how it goes to th blue wire (that really becomes nothing) on the GSR harness was the same exact thing i was thinking. i just didnt want to solder something i would have to redo numerous times over.
just a little side note some really nice guy in the hybrid forum told me the black wires with the yellow stripes were grounds and it would not matter where they connected on the complementary gsr harness.

I just realized that you were boosting your caR. I dont want to help you any more
But yea the White wire doesnt connect to anything, it just runs into the connector and doesnt go anywhere. I hate wires with a passion so if you could show which connector the wires go into I will go look at my cawwww.

you never know at this point in time the car can go either way NA or FI if i can get the poor f-en thing to start
but i will take another pic and specifically make arrows to indicate which wires will go to which. but can you confirm that the black wires with the yellow stripes are grounds? BTW i really appreciate your help

If this is still not resolved tomorrow, I'll look it up in all-data at the shop and find out for you. So let me get it straight so I know what I'm looking for. The car wires are the ITR stock wires and the engine harness are from a 98 GS-R? I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can match up the other 2 since the asshat Jim already answered one of them.

yes the caR is a 2000 ITR and the engine harness being spliced into it is a 98 OBD2 gsr
i think jim is a swell guy but thats besides the point
i would really appreciate it if you could do that for me Dave because pretty much my whole winter break was wasted on this issues and i would really like to resolve it so i can get the poor car running
and then take my restoration to the next level
