Default 4-inch ID flange K&N for Comptech Icebox plus tube?

Well, cleaned my Comptech/Uni filter today using some diluted Purple Power as degreaser, and the poor bastard started to dissolve where the majority of the gunk was. Inner layer of foam is still intact, but the other blue layer is very gone in a couple of spots. Probably going to replace it with a K&N, and I know everyone recommends the RU-3130 or E-2427, but those are both 3.5-inch inner-diamater flanges, and unless I'm smoking crack the Comptech UNI filter's ID is 4 inches, as is the shaped plastic tube that connects the airbox to the Comptech short-ram tube.

Did a search on the K&N site and found this:
http://www.knfilters.com/searc...-2590

Should fit in the box and has a 4-inch flange to interface with the Comptech IceBox hose. What kind of setups are you guys using that allow a 3.5-inch ID flange?

Well, I guess it's good that nobody said "do a search!"

Nobody has info on how they got the 3.5-inch K&N filters to work on the comptech's 4-inch diameter? Are you omitting some part of the Icebox setup?

hey bitch... just go order the 4" ID K&N from autozone or any other local store... if it doesn't fit your needs... return it with the volvo and order the 3.5" ID.

per or anyone else down there have any DCOE 40's?

Can the Icebox take an OEM airfilter? If it can, you could do the RU-3130 conversion with an old stock filter.

Im using a RU-3130 on a cutup stock filter's base, there was a thread many moons ago on how to cut the stock filter to allow the K&N to be clamped onto it.

It fits in the Icebox no prob, but now I am curious about the 4" one you posted...

The 2590 finally showed up, the Comptech's nicely shaped plastic filter flange is ever so slightly larger than the inner diameter of the filter, but K&Ns are pretty flexible so with a little bit of prying-on help from a screwdriver it fit beautifully, snug even before the tightening of the hose clamp. It looks just like it did before but with a K&N instead of a UNI filter, no mods or tweaking needed. I'll take a pic if I remember to bring the camera back from the office, but if you're in the market for this one and you want to keep the nice funnel that connects your hose to the Icebox, this is a nice way to do just that.
