Default Pulley/Suspension question

First off, the pullies. Im probably going to be doing the timing belt on my 96 accord EX and I was thinking about doing the pullies as well. Now when mentioned to a friend, he told me that the Accord's had some reliability issues when the aftermarket pullies were done to his car. It did increase performance, but Im not sure if I want to do them now. What are the Pros/Cons when it comes to doing the pullies on my Accord and are the gains really worth the money?

Second, in the guide to accords thread it said that the Eibach Prokits can give some accords the boat look. Does that happen with my generation accord? If so, would going with another brand such as H&R give it more of an even drop?

thanks

Default Re: Pulley/Suspension question (IPLockMe)

I believe he's speaking more of the adjustable Cam Drive Pulleys (AEM, etc).
Unlike advancing or retarding the ignition, advancing or retarding the Camshatf via shaft timing can have SOME effect, but not as you'd think.
It will do nothing more than shift the power curve up/down from the stock point. There is no change with regards to Duration, Lift, or Ramp opening or closing timing.
They will NOT increase Horsepower or Torque as would a Reground Camshaft. .

All those pretty anodized gears do is either open/close the valve train earlier or later. IE: Opening earlier/closing earlier -or- Opening later/Closing later. No other changes
.
