Default air conditioning just quit...help me trouble shoot

one day the a/c is working fine, the next day the compressor won't kick on.

i spun the compressor by hand and it spun freely, so i don't think the bearings siezed.

i checked the relay and fuses in the fuse box. the fuses are fine and when i put the relay in another socket it worked.

the connector at the compressor seems as solid as it ever was.

what else do i need to be checking? are there other relays in the engine bay or inside the cabin? if anyone can give me a list of what to check beyond what i've done that would be awesome.

car is 96 civic, compressor is from an si.

do you have any A/C leacks, if the freon level gets too low the compressor clutch wont engage.

i haven't tested for leaks. it worked fine, 24 hours it didn't work. i guess i didn't expect it to all of a sudden spring a leak. i'll check it out in the next day or two.

does anyone else have any other tips as far as electrical problems?

check over all your lines and if theres a dark spot with dirt and grime on any part of the line, thats were your leak is. if you cant find it your compressor might of gone bad. oh yeah get a wiring diagram and power the compressor clutch manually and it should engage if not then your compresssor is bad.

Yeah, they can have a very slow leak, and over time it will get low enough that the compressor doesnt kick on...happened to me (Melted a hole in the line with turbo)
