Hey all,

When I replaced my negative batter terminal, and one of the original ground wires, was I supposed to remove the positive terminal while doing this ???

For some reason, and I don't know if it is related to this my subwoofer has stopped working. It seems that I blew the fuse on the sub, I replaced it, and the sub still doesn't work.

Also the radio antenna stopped working, I know it is an aftermarket power antenna, should there be a fuse for this somewhere?

did you short something? but no, it is not necessary to remove the positive side when replacing the negative cable and terminal. the symptom you are describing is pointing to you shorting something or your ground cable replacement is not correct.

 

How do i know if I shorted something ?

Car seems to be running fine.

 

you need to check the cables to your amp and power ant to see if they have power going to the accessory. if there is not power and ground, then you have a problem in your wiring somewhere. if there is, then you have destroyed your accessory.

 

thanks for the help. I just found out that the power cable running to the sub has a fuse thingy running about a foot after the connection to the battery positive terminal. This fuse in this thing may be shorted, I will find out tomorrow.

 

chit chit. I went to remove the main fuse at the power line that goes to the sub, and when i was opening the plastic cylinder to get to the fuse, it sparked.

I immediately started screwing it back.

Should I have disconnected the negative battery terminal while messing with this situation ?

 

yes, disconnect power when handling high amperage accessories.

Remove the negative not the positive right ?
