Default stupid car....

K so i was haveing ignition problems, cutting out, expecially hard on cold start up=wouldnt start. So i took it to the shop and they said it was the ignition coil. So the replaced it witha new one and yay, it work. So now its about 2-3 weeks since then and its doing the exact same thing. I went to start it and it started then died right away. I kept cranking it and once in a while it will fire a couple times(sputter) and die. It sounds as if its only running on 2 cylinders when it decides to run for half a second. the other time i revved it up a bit when it was runnning, it came back down to idle but the rpm's bounced from like 100 to 1500 for a bit before it settled at 1000. and yesterday after school i came out and it started and died. i cranked it more, it sputtered a bit then finally started. this is reallly pissing me off like you have no idea. this is my baby and it does this to me. what could it be!?!? when its in teh shop(heated) it starts no problem. ****! lol
help please....
edit-i have cel codes 22(vtec malfunction), 45 i think(to lean or to rich) and 67(catylist system below threshhold or w/e)

new wires and plugs may help if they haven't been replaced.... bad fuel injector wire?
check your plugs see if they are white or black (no gas/no spark)

just a few ideas.....

The exact same thing happens to my car sometimes, but not as much as you I think, Ive posted questions all over the place but no one has a definite answer, what I think it is is water is shorting something out, because one time I washed my engine bay at a carwash and afterwards it would not start for like an hour, also when its really cold outside and I dont park it inside it will sometimes not start, I have to wait till the sun comes out and it always starts when the sun has been out for awhile, I think we have the same problem and if anyone knows how to fix please tell us.

If you find that your problem isn't ignition related, it might be your main fuel relay.

ya but i find its directly temperature related. if its in my heated shop, it will start up with little problem(but acts weird like low rough idle and when i rev it up it goes down to like 200 rpm then up to 1500) but i left it outside tonight to see if it would do it again, it was 0 celius out and it just kept sputtering like it would fire but just die. the colder it gets the less it even sputters and theres no chance in starting it. its not fuel b/c teh plugs are wet and you can smell fuel when i try to start it. If its cold out and doesnt start i can run start it, someone tows me and i just let the clutch out and it takes about 2 minutse at 40 mph till it finally runs. damn im pissed off...

Check the prongs inside your cap they might be bad, if so replace it check your rotor and the screw that is suppose to hold it in place. Those thing tend to come off sometime, but don't over tighten. Next I would check my wires, then my sparkplugs, yes take them out and inspect them them tighten to correct with a torque wrench 12lbs I believe is correct...

i consider myself decently mechanically inclined although my grammer needs some work lol all that u have listed is 100% good, i have new plugs, wires, ignition coil, cleaned teh prongs inside the cap. would it be the timeing? also the shop told me that if the dizzy were not connected directly to the grounded plugs and the current had nowhere to go, such as how u take the plugs out and leave the wires off during a compression test and turn the engine over, it would fry the cap and rotor? i doubt it but it might be true. i just dont know anymore...
