Clutch Chatter and Flywheel Chatter?
Is this after engagement? I understood clutch chatter as occuring when letting out the clutch and it's engaging with the flywheel. Not happening afterwards.

Shouldn't chatter once in gear... ie: you are in gear and accelerating.
Chatter tends to be an engagement time thing.
You might have something else going on

The term clutch chatter is given to the resonance of the rotating assembly on the flywheel and clutch. This only occurs during idle, as engine harmonics are dampened by the transmission once in gear, and acceleration forces cancel any resonance frequencies if you are revving in nuetral.
There are exceptions to the above. Key RPM's create standing waves on parts othe drivetrain and it is possible to hear these harmonics while driving, usually at a low RPM, which could be what you are experiencing. Does this frequently happen in a higher gear while cruising, ie: 4th or 5th.

so whats the noise I used to get all the time with my old ceramic 6 puck unsprung clutch disk and CM flywheel when releasing and depressing the clutch pedal and engaging first gear?

I couldn't guess w/o hearing it. I can get a video of our Supra idling, the clutch chatter is loud enough to hear from a block away. It could just be the way that particular clutch sounds when engaging...

hmm ok I was always under the impression I had clutch chatter and that it occurred when engaging and disengaging the clutch. but my clutch was garbage so maybe it was related to that instead .
