Help guys. I dont know whats up. Yesterday i am driving an dmy speedometer goes up and down like crazy. Btw im boosted on my gsr. Well Im cruising and the out of nowhere my speedometer goes up or down and goes out of control when i hit the gas. When i hit the gas hard it will go the right speed on odo but out of nowhere drop to 5-30mph or go up. Can anyone please help. What needs to be replace?? What seems to be the problem???

 

Could be a bad ground on the speedometer, maybe a loose connection also what happened to me is that when I disconnected my speedometer on the connecter end there are 3 pins the middle one was corroded and broke off so I'll replace it shortly by soldering....just disconnect it for now it might say you'll be going 140 mph. at a stand still and your odometer might rise while standing still as well...hope that helps.

 

^ if not any of the above, (bad ground, loose connection) it could be a bad VSS - vehicle speed sensor.

 

well. When i am cruising and i hit the pedal the odometer goes down and when im steady speed again the needle goes upand down up and down. But when it goes down it goes all the way to 0mph which bogs my car and slows down hard out of nowhere when speedometer drops out of no where when i speed up.

 

Hmmm..I would say loose connection if it only happens when you give it gas....but if the speedometer drops to 0 and your car bogs I don't know what can cause that. I have a VSS problem but it doesn't bog and my speedometer just sits at 0..sorry and good luck on that.
