si tranny to non-si engine

Default si tranny to non-si engine

im looking at putting an si tranny in my non-si civic. it has a D15 in it and the tranny is for a D16.....will this work?

I don't think it will work. According to helms there are two types: S40 and S4C. The S40 is the most common transmission for the d-series. In fact, only the 2 door coupes have the S4C tranny.

When you look at the diagrams for removal of the transmission, the D16Y5 and D16y8 motors have a different bottom mount than the D16y7. Whereas the Y7 engine has one large bracket as the engine stiffiner, the Y8 and Y5 have two smaller brackets.

Anyway, I'm talking in theory, and aside from what I mentioned above, there is still a possibility it will work, I just have no firsthand experience.

it'll work.. you're talking about EG's, correct?

and to the above poster.. what? all the d series on EK's have the same mount configuration.

i have a 92 hatch with d15b7 and z6 tranny . . .itll work, direct bolt up, easy as pie.

im not real sure on the year of the tranny though. if it is pre 92 will it still work? it came out of a civic hatch si but im not sure on the year cause its currently in a 90 crx si

well, is it cable or hydro? if its hydro, then yes it will bolt right up.

S4C is the code for the 99-00 Si B16A tranny, isn't it?

i know its not all that new....its pre 96. i'll make sure its hydro. thanks for the help. were most of the si trannys hydro or did it vary?

92+ are hydro 91 and below are cable
