Default excellent condition 1997 type r value

i found a 1997 type r with 53,000 miles, completely stock and excellent condition overall. The seller wants 17,000 for it, i looked at KBB and it doesnt list a price for it.

Anyone think that it is worth it?

for a 97, bone stock with that low of miles, that price seems to be a bit too high. I would of thought it be around 16g's. but what do i know, 97's have a really high markup.

it should probably go in the 14-15k range... depending on the exact condition

That is what I was thinking....though he can ask a premium if it's a virgin 97. You and I both know how rare they are getting.

If it's the same '97 that's in the h-t marketplace, yeah it's clean and the seller seems firm on the price. If it was completely mint I'd pay $17k, but the one fender has been replaced or repainted so it's missing the VIN tag on it, and there's the unfortunate mileage discrepency with the inspection. Again, that's if we're talking about the same car.

It depends on how much you like that example. They are definitely becoming more scarce.

I would pay top dollar for any virgin CW. 97 or 98.

The value is in the eye of the seller and buyer.

But in your avatar your eyes are looking in different directions. Does that mean you pay double?

Funny you say that. I had a conversation with a friend about this the other day. My next ITR will be a virgin that I'm willing to pay 20k + for it if it's pristine. I know the value of the car will have gone down by then but it's not about getting a used one at a great deal. It's about finding the one. It won't be daily driven, it'll just come out randomly for track days and sun. The next one is going to be more of a trophy I present myself after I get out of school. Kind of like a second diploma

I know it sounds stupid but I just feel so stronly about these cars and what they mean to their owners.

If the condition is perfect, 17 is reasonable. The mileage seems real low for a 97. Carfax it. If everything checks out good, you might want to make a move...supply and demand. How many clean virgin ITRs are out there?

FWIW, not being a dick but I wouldn't pay 17k for any R that has had any type of internal work done. I consider cam gears internal work because of what goes along with them.

So the question arises. Not dissing ITR908 in any way, but does 'The Virgin' 97 really exist? /

I'm the sixth owner of mine so we know mine has been a ****.

I'm not picking on your caR. I'm just saying that for me, what you have is already too much to rationalize paying for. There's definately someone willing to by your caR. You just have to be patient.

ITR908:

Is that other car RHD? Or is it a USDM 98?
