Default Question about tires . . . . .

first of all i have 205/45 on 16 rota slips, my fronts went bald(hankook k106), so i ordered 2 dunlop sp sports, to replace the front. My question is; is it bad having 45 instead of 50/55 ? , and also having 2 different types of tires ? ? and wat does v-rated and 200 treadware mean . . . . im assuming the tires i just bought wont last long at all.

It's NOT a good idea to have different sized tires (unless your car was designed for that) and it's NOT a good idea to have two different types of tires. That makes the handling very unpredictable. Your car might oversteer in some conditions, understeer in others, etc. NOT a good idea.

You can read all about tire sidewall ratings on the Tire Rack website; click here. Then click on Speed Rating for the V, UTQG for treadwear, etc.

Well I already ordered them, their the same size. just diff brand and speed rated. So is it bad having 205/45's ? ? ? + wat is over/under steer. my front tires are bald on the insides b/c of toe, and that has to do with the allignment rite?

as long as you run them in axles you'll be ok.

put the 45's in the front, and the 50-55's in the back.. don't put one 55 and one 45 on each side of the fronts or rears.

handleing should remain the same, i can't see why it would change. the only differance is the fronts (45's) would very slightly sping faster since the circumfrance of the tire is smaller.

Yes if they balded on one side get an alignment quick, before you ruin another set.

Also it would be best to put the worst tires on the rear axle, in fact some mounting shops will only do this cause of liability. It will cause you car to understeer (plow) rather than oversteer (fish tale) which is a bit safer.

Cheers.

Your goal should be to have four tires that are the proper size for your car (and you didn't mention what kind of Honda/Acura car you have). So even if you're going to use mismatched tires, you should get two of the correct size tire so that you can eventually replace the wrong sized tires when they wear out with the correct size.

Tires oversteer when the front tires grip better than the rear tires, and understeer when the rear tires grip better. With mismatched tires, the tires may behave differently at different times and on different surfaces, so they can change from oversteer to understeer, making the handling unpredictable.
