Default Headlight bulbs best and brightest help

I am looking to get some better light out of my headlights. I live in the country and would really like to see the deer that run out onto the road a bit sooner.

What are the best bulbs I can get to put in there?

Are the Silverstars where it is at? I see other saying that they are better then Silverstar. Please help me out on this one.

Go to http://www.fourthgenhatch.com and look at the 9005 conversion. I have done this on my car and several other cars and with Silverstars you can light up the road. It is super easy to do also. Great cheap mod!!!!!!

Thanks, I saw that mod and was planning on it. So I guess that the silverstars are the best bulb for that.

Ok silverstars it is,

Umm . . . you would blind everyone travelling in the opposite direction if you wired up your high beams as low beams

The 9005 conversion involves running a high-beam bulb in the low-beam housing, which is not quite the same as having your high beams permanently on.

the sylvania "cool blue" 9005 conversion should be just fine. Silverstars are overrated, and if you're looking purely for light output, the cool blues will suit you as far as cost-perfomance goes

Any one know of any sites that compare the different bulbs?

The 9005 conversion is a good place to start.

The Silverstars look great but they have considerably shorter lifespan than regular bulbs. According to Sylvania, their hi-perf "extra" halogen 9006 lasts 850 hrs.
The Siverstars average a paltry 150 hrs...which I consider ridiculous considering their price. If I had known about the shortened life, I wouldn't have installed them.

At any rate, considering the original poster's needs, they should be looking for a good PIAA, Hella or CATZ driving/fog light to supplement the weak *** stock headlights. Considering the cost of the buying four SStars($15-20 ea) and needing new ones every 150 hrs, a good driving light set looks like a bargain. Bulbs are not the answer.

I was going to suggest the 9005 mod as well. AS soon as my CRX is back up and running, this is one of the first things I'm gonna do! Going a month without my car and having to drive my dad's underpowered 92 civic 4 dr automatic can drive a guy looney!!

Humm I didnt know that about the SilverStars. That ends that idea. I think that I am just going to do the double 9005's and put on some mad fog/driving lights.
