You've got to love the roominess of those earlier model engine bays. That engine sits soo far forward (not a good thing, but it's probably fairly light).
Is this going to be a daily, weekend car, or a racer?

She's gonna be a once-in-a-while daily driver/weekend car. She sat on the side of my house for almost five years not running, so I just want to enjoy the car for what she is, and that's not a racecar, just a cruiser...

VERY nice, I'm lovin it!! What kind of carbs are on the car? Also, what engine code is in there? The reason I ask is because the ES2 in my car has siamese intake ports, i.e., the cylinder number 2 and 3 have the intake ports centered and next to each other, and yours are evenly spaced out.
Also, what header is that? I was looking around for a cheaper alternative to the S&S...

Well, i do know on my 86 base that i had before my SH, the code stamped on the block was A18a1. I think they updated the engine in 85 with something like a revised head, but i cant say for sure. I just know that there was some mid-generation tweak that caused them to tweak the engine code as well.
Actually, now that i think about it, for some reason i seem to remember that one other reason for the change was that honda wanted to begin standardizing all of thier engines as far as nomenclature was concerned. But anyways, good luck on your project. I never really stopped loving my 86, wish i coulda kept it on the side, but of course, money problems sealed its fate
Kick *** and good Luck

The carbs are Weber 40DCOE's. The engine code is an A20A2. Obviously its not the original motor, the original was a 1.8L. THis is 2.0L. And the header was custom made buy my buddy who built the car. I think its 1 5/8ths and connects to a straightpipe 2 1/2 inch exhaust. This car is awesome, I love it...it just sucks that I have to wait the whole winter to drive it!

Hopefully we can kinda keep this thread going for all the 1-3rd gen guys. I just bought a 87 Si for $500 bucks@104,000 miles.
I thought about an EG Si hatch, but the BA had everything the EG had(sway bars, sunroof, disc all around, power everything). plus they are more rare than any civic.
