I have turbo H22 in a 92 Civic. Got some bad advice from a So Cal engine builder who built my shortblock. They claimed that 10:1 compression and 20 lbs. of boost on pump gas wasn't a problem. Everyone I talked to in Portland, OR says-no way.
I have a 10:1 eng., Arias, Crower rods, Darton sleeves, JG head, Garrett GT 30, Hondata S 100, Pro drive pump gears, Blitz id controller, Tial 46mm wastegate, Revhard header, 3" exh. from header out, stock H22 cams. large intercooler, MSD 6 ignition and coil, Fluidyne radiator, Tilton dual disc clutch & fwhl. etc., etc.
The car is setup to run at 10 and 16 lbs. boost at 12.1 to 11.8 afr, around 14 degrees advance and dynos out to 290s and 401whp. I'm using straight 113 octane race gas. The car is garaged and driven only on clear days. (a toy) It weighs 2320 lbs.
I recently found a supplier who makes a 5 layer headgasket that will lower compression to 9.4:1. Any ideas on how much boost I might be able to run on pump gas. (ran 8psi on pump gas previously) With 100% 113 octane race gas, how much boost would be realistic as a max?
Would S cams make more power and still retain streetability?
Dyno runs were made on both Dynojet and Mustang dynos. Do the whp figures seem ok?
Would running a Fluidampr harmonic balancer be helpful?
Any experience with Evans coolant? (boils at 350)
Any other suggestions?

Do you have an in-tank fuel pump?
I couldn't tell you what a safe boost level would be for pump gas. I would let your Hondata tuner figure that out for you. I have never heard of 10:1 compression in a boosted motor, but since it's an H22 with high comp AND turbo you probably have gobs of torque throughout the powerband. I'll bet it's faster than most other 400 whp civics because of that fact.
My own research with the Fluidampr harmonic balancer is that it is a good piece to have, but more necessary in high-revving motors. Endyn uses them, shoot the guy an email. http://www.theoldone.com
