I have a caliper that's seizing (right front is starting to stick). I did a search for availability and costs for a replacement ITR calipers and holy-hell are they expensive. I can have an S2000 caliper for cheaper (read: free).
From looking at pics of the ITR caliper, the S2000 caliper looks to fit. Question is if I can use S2000 calipers (as replacement for both sides in the front), what issues would I face for rotor fitment, brake lines, pads, etc.
I have searched this site to see if anyone has done this and the only thing I keep coming up with is a thread that has an argument about the Mugen Active Brake System vs. putting together a cheaper alternative. However, the thread seems to confirm to me that the S2000 caliper would fit (which is a major plus seeing that I have a collection of track and street pads for the OEM S2K caliper).
Yes, I'd love to move up to a BBK or Spoon calipers or even a stock replacement, but cost and wheel size options deter me. I happen to have extra S2K calipers sitting in my basement (three sets in fact), and would love to put a set of those to use.
Help please! If this works, I'd like to have a fix for my car by this weekend....ITR calipers won't be in stock until next Wed. according to the dealer I called (I don't want to be driving the S2000 just yet).

S2000 calipers, I have no idea about.
But instead of replacing the OEM R calipers with brand new, have you thought about using rebuilt ones from someone reputible say: http://www.centricparts.com/
Their remann process looks to be quality and very complete. Of course you'd need to return the core I'm sure. And I haven't seen prices listed for their processes so I don't know exact pricing but I'd guess less than OEM and I'd trust their work more than say Autozone remanned stuff.
Best of luck

I didn't think to look at reman....I'll give Centric a call, as well as Autozone to see if they have anything for replacement for ITR calipers.
Ideally, the more I think about it, I'd like to use the S2K calipers with whatever $24-$50 Autozone/NAPA rotor OE replacement would fit. I'd figure that brake performance would be comparable if not better, I could turn to using one brake pad supplier for both my cars (easy to re-order), and would be a cheaper "fix" for me in the short-term (kinda important to me seeing that X-mas spending went a little crazy this year).
Thank you very much, though

S2k should work on your ITR along with S2K rotors, it works with one of the fellow accord guys after he did the 5 bolt conversion as ITR calipars work with accords, which are same as the accord wagons, so therefore S2k calipars along with S2K calpars will work you would just need 16" rims to clear it i think
OEM ITR remanufactured calipers aren't that expensive after core exchange. You could also just buy the rebuild kit and rebuild them yourself for about $25/per caliper.

JDMcb7,
thanks for the info. This is good, seeing that I have extra pairs of S2K rotors as well. If I don't find a more OE ITR solution, I will be trying the S2K parts this weekend. There are no worries for me with 16" wheels....I'm already on 16".
Mugen Mike,
you have any suggestions where I could pick up ITR remans? Also, where do you find rebuild kits? I haven't rebuilt a caliper before, is it overly difficult, or do I need special tools (which is the reason I have multiple pairs of S2K calipers for the S2K)?

Any parts store should carry a rebuild kit.
I'm selling my 2-piston Legend calipers if you're interested in another OEM-fit solution. They use ITR pads, and accommodate the thicker autozone legend rotors.

You can pick up either at any Acura dealership. If I didn't have a local hook-up, I would order them from Len.
Rebuilding the front calipers is relatively easy, the most difficult part is getting the rubber boot around the piston. It helps to have a second set of hands for this, but can be done with one person as long as you have some patience. The rear calipers are a bit more difficult to rebuild, and Honda does not sell a remanufactured unit for the rears.

.RJ started a topic today in the Road Racing/Autocross forum that has some comments about differences in quality between OEM and remanufactured calipers; check it out...
Use the S2K Calipers on your Factory ITR Brackets and with the Factory ITR Discs.
When I upgraded my Calipers, I used RL Calipers/Brackets/discs, but I noticed at that time that I could bolt the Legend GS Calipers or ITR Calipers on the RL Brackets (IE - HOLE TO HOLE SPACING WAS THE SAME ON THE SLIDERS)
Do a Test Fit first. It only takes a few minutes...

The rebuild kit comes with a packet of grease specifically for re-greasing the slide pins.

I was gonna repost when I got home to get the exact name of the grease to use.

I think the consensus, for those that responded to this question, shows that it will work. I don't remember reading anyone stating definitely that it won't work.
In anycase, unless I cannot find calipers for less than $300 per side (and yes, I'd be replacing both at the same time to keep age and wear even on both calipers) before this Saturday, I will be trying the S2000 calipers on my ITR brackets.
I'll post up either way.

OEM rebuilds shouldn't be more than that for the pair. IIRC, they should only be ~$125 each from Honda - and they come with that nice cadmium plated *bling* too!

When I had called the various dealers, I wasn't asking for rebuilds. I'm willing to bet though they were going to sell me rebuilds under the guise of new calipers though.
When I call stealerships, I like acting like I don't know anything about cars. I then only end up dealing with those that don't b.s. me, even if they are more expensive.
..as for the new cadmium plating as bling, you mean I should have them sprayed with high-temp bronze paint and then with red paint, stencil on "BREMBO" on the caliper?

The rebuilds I got had labels on them stating that they were in fact remanufactured.

Will do....as will I once I get my Honda shoes too.
BTW, if you're free on Saturday, I may have you swing by to hang out, have a beer, etc. And no worries, no more cat....also have had the carpets in the house shampoo'd twice already since we exiled her.

...but do they works a good as ITR OEM. Are all those calipers the same? If so, it's quite interesting that Honda went parts bin with the S2000 calipers.

AFAIK they are identical.. sure look the same.. and are interchangeable.. and use the same pads and rotors..
