Default 180 to the wheels?

Well I just now set a goal for my self. I have a 01 Prelude SH and I want to be able to hit ~180 at the wheels. What kind of route should I take to do this? I want my motor to be NA and for the most part bolt ons. So far I have short ram intake, DC header, high flow cat and Tsudo cat back (apexi-knock off). Thanks.

Get rid of the DC ***** Header and get RMF or SMSP. You'll hit 180 with ease.

Yep thats right. People hit about close to 200 with a good header and a free flowing exhaust. No other work needed. Just save your money for one of these headers, which consist of RMF, DTR, SMSP. These all vary from 800ish-1200. Cheapest would be RMF because he offers a good header in mild steel. If interested PM him.

Well as far as not getting a 1000 dollar header what could I do? Im not really ever going to be able to save up that much. I know Im getting my taxes back soon, which I can get some more parts with that. Im thinking something along the lines of 400-500 bucks for a few more things to add on or just one more thing.

Actually where can I look at the RMF header, as far as prices go and such. Any site?

Sell your DC header for $200 and the balance of your tax payment will pick you up an RMF header.. If you want a high HP all motor Prelude, this is the only way to go.. I believe you can get a non-coated RMF for $6-700 and it will be WELL worth it if you want 180whp.. Otherwise - you're just going to be wasting your money on other little crap that won't add up.

i think with a good tune you might be close to 180 as it is.

it's the header that's holding you back.

maybe try one of those new "2.5 inch" collector DC headers or a greddy or other mid-tier header and get a hondata and you'll prob be right there.

yeah you can definitely hit 190+ with the rmf....you could probably hit 180 with some mid level header like monkeyboy said...

tuning it will be the best help...

I have an SH as well and I was hoping to push 200 @ the wheels with a nice header. Here is my question: I assume w/o the tune the nice header will have little effect, but will the "tune" affect my ATTS?

depends on what you're tuning with. Hondata will render your ATTS inoperable. A VAFC or Emanage will let you keep your ATTS, but won't be as fully featured as a hondata.

that's the tradeoff, atm.

I have seen people use the Greddy PIggy Back with great results.

if you want to add some hp. (10-15) get some bigger fuel injectors a nice intake system, headers and a 2.25 full exhaust. that should open the motor up nicely and allow for some extra hp

Would the RMF SMSP or rage header be a good header for a I/H/E setup? I thought you would need some internal work for those headers....

You guys are kidding me right? Suggesting he buy those headers are overkill for a goal of 180ish whp. If he eventually wants more, then I agree on the header but if he's the type that will be satisfied with 180whp then he does need it.

IamCuddles- I made 181whp with a AEM CAI, High flow cat, AEM pulleys, N1 exhaust, and a OBX header tuned an a VAFC. So that'll give you a rough idea of what you need. And the tune wasn't very good.

I've seen 180 out of similar setups with a VAFC tune.

If you're content with 180 or so just get a piggyback, tune it, and call it a day.

So basically 180 isnt really much of a goal? How about those injectors? Any brands or what should I go for when I get some? I havent really read much about that, so any information on it would be awesome. Im sure once I hit 180 Ill want to go 190 then 200 but Im sure that will be max. I dont really want to go the pulley route because of the damaging internals thing.

Stock injectors are comfortably okay until about 200whp, or so the story goes.

on 3 engines i have hit 175-177 hp with a stock ecu, test pipe/high flow cat, aem CAI, and apexi dunk exhaust. stock header on them all....

have you done a baseline dyno yet to see how far you really have to go to get 180?

I havent really done anything as far as dynos, I was just reading around and it looked like people were getting around 170 with their ludes and not much with a setup. I figured ah what the hell Ill try and get 180. But if I could get higher with bolts ons, bring it! I think my next buy is going to be a VAFC 2, I havent really read much on an other piggy backs. Also I dont know of any shops around here that would tune my car (Richmond, Va)

Grow some ***** and set a higher goal. 200 whp is most h series owners whp goal for a naturally aspirated motor. Your probably already making around high 170's whp. You will actaully feel like you achieved something when you hit that 200 mark.

though a VAFC 2 is appropriate for your goals, i think i'd rather go with an emanage if you want to keep ATTS. they've got a few more features than the VAFC, and aren't that much more expensive, if at all.

the right bolt ons + tuning will be 190 whp easy. that's a very realistic goal that won't put you under financially.

If you're willing to drive, there's a shop in Bristol, TN that does some amazing work (probably got the best dyno in the whole state too)

I jsut have some bolt ons and i hit 180 at the wheels. I just have CAI, DC headers, custome exhaust, skunk 2 cam gears and vafc 2. And I did that in Colorado. 5280 feet above sea level.
