I did a post awhile back on this, and people were saying roughly around 118hp

I hope that's at the wheels?

..I'd think 118 would be at the flywheel...I'd find it really hard to believe that a mini-me would pull 118 at the wheels.

I haven't dynoed my mini-me but I would say it makes more than 118hp at the flywheel. Thats only a 7-10 hp gain over the stock D16A6 motor. I would say that it gained more than that. Probably somewhere at about 125-130hp at the flywheel. Besides having the vtec head. It also increased the compression ratio which the up's the hp some.

108 on the stock si is at the flywheel, not the wheels...its down in the lower 90s to the wheels...

zc's which supposedly have 130-137 hp dyno at like 110 if they're lucky....

C5; is it worth going with the d16y8 head over the z6? I can already get a z6 cheap, maybe just send it out to get ported and polished? I want high CR but still stable that makes good power.

ZC's are overrated!!! I've seen stock D16A6's put down as much HP as a ZC. Heck, I've seen bolt-on D16A's easily over the 110 HP mark and stock ones around 105hp, all on a dynojet too.

The HF pistons are probly real close to what i have in my d15b. It started off as the JDM D15B Twin Carb, it was converted to the Si's mpfi when it was put in the car. I think the CR is 9.2:1

Thanks for the info, i'll stick with the z6 and mod it instead.

I also think that the CRX Si engine puts out about 100 HP to the wheels in most cases. And not in the lower 90's.

nah it's lower 90's you gotta figure in at least 11-12% drivetrain loss.

C5- what compression ratio was the mini-me you built runnin? Did it run on pump gas(91 octane)? If not what octane? Also, how much was the ECU?
Thanks a bunch,
Trevor

*Edit: What cam did you use?

Davens from the honda-perf board dynoed his minime. I think he was at 108-110 hp at the wheels. It had a better torque curve than a stock a6 did as well. I am sure he could provide more info. He was running his off a zdyne gold secu, and I think he had some head work done too, maybe the head was shaved a little or something, cant remember all the specifics though.

I guess when I say headwork I should be a little more specific, I think he said he shaved the head, ported the a6 intake manifold to match the z6 head, and may have deburred the intake ports on the head. Nothing real major from my understanding.

C5- Couple more questions if you dont mind:
What cam gear did you use? I was planning on using a skunk2... would that be best? If not what would be?
Also, what kind of 1/4 times did it get?
Thanks a million for your time,
Trevor

personally, I wouldnt go the mini-me route if you want it just to go faster than your non-vtec 1.6sohc. I can do alot to that d16a6 more than i can to the vtec sohc, all motor.
my own sohc, has been on the same motor for 4 years and running strong.
all it has is headwork, custom cam(idles like stock, 35 mpg). cam gears, and all the bolt ons(IHE)
hitting 13.6 at 115lbs of torque, 138hp

All this on a stock bottom end and no milling.

if your interested in setting up the d16, let me know, I can go through with ya on what to get to make that sohc motor move.
