d16z6 and d16a6 same bottom blocks?

d16z6 and d16a6 same bottom blocks?

wondering if they are the same blocks or not...with no internals and is a d16a6 crank interchangable with the d16z6 block...reason i ask cause I have a d16z6 spare block bare and gonna build it up so i dont have to rush with things...

umm i think that they are pretty much the same except for the a6 block has oil squitters and it has a different comp ratio, and the fan sensor thingy is on the back of the a6 block and the z6 has it on the thermo. housing... o yeah one says "d16z6" on it and one says "d16a6" on it haha...

I'm pretty sure the A6 doesn't have oil squirters.

yes that is correct.

I am not sure if they are exactly the same, but I don't think they are.

I think the z6 uses dished pistons, while the a6 pistions are flat.

the blocks are basicly the same the a6 girtle is a cast iorn/aluminum unit wile the z6 is a solid aluminum.

cranks are interchangable

compression ratio has nothing to do with the block only the pistons. the piston-deck height on a6, z6, y8 is the same.

the a6 has a little plug thingy that needs taken out if a vtec head is going on top of it. im not sure if it can be put in the z6 block if an a6head is being used. you might want to look into it if you are going to use an a6 head.

there are not oil squirters on any D-series.
