i wouldn't want to chance it but a lot of people have done it with no problems
i wouldn't take off more than a few pounds though and get it balanced after

It's risky, but can be done. I wouldn't recommend it, myself. You should only take off a few pounds at the most, anything more and you risk disintegrating the flywheel.

You should be able to find an ACT flywheel floating around somewhere for a decent price.

i had a stock D series taken down to a little under 14 lbs... with a balance.

i heard all sorts of horror stories before and after i did it.... but i drove that car for 50,000 miles with no problems before i sold it.

try going to an old *** hotroder machine shop, that has done a million of em. ask their opinions.... they'll pretty much say its OK if you balance it.

although its MUCH easier to buy an ACT for like 150 new.

Ya you should be fine with a few pounds shaved off. Do not try and take off 10 pounds. Stock b16 flywheel is in the ballpark area of 20 pounds. I think you will be fine if you get it down to 16-15. Most machine shops can handle this type of work but dont let some rookies do it because its not something that you want to guess. It needs to be balanced. Good Luck

I always have my flywheels shaved by a local machine shop.I have them taken down to roughly 12-13lbs from stock 18ish lbs.Just have it balance or checked to make sure it is still balanced.Cost me $60 vs 2-300 for aftermarket.

has anyone ever heard of a flywheel actually breaking?? i heard ppl always saying how it could break and rip through the passanger side compartment, just wondering if there is any evidence to support this claim.

i havent seen or heard of one HONDA doing this.

only HEARD stories of 1000+hp dragsters breaking.

i do have first hand experience with a shaved flywheel that i raced with, and daily drove..... for over 50,000 miles..... and its still running strong today to the person i sold it to.
