I am at the Detroit Auto Show working and yesterday, Acura introduced their new light truck named the RDX. It is basically a small SUV made for the road more than the trails. The highlight of this platform is the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder iVTEC TURBO. Yes, TURBO Honda from the factory. There hasn't been a turbocharged Acura ever in production, so this is a first. It will produce 260 ft-lbs of torque and 240 horsepower in stock form. It rides on 19 inch wheels and has lots of goodies. The pictures included are press release pictures, I do not have the actual pictures of the car...I didn't expect to take pictures...I'm working. The price is not determined yet but the car will be available by summer time.
Since the K series is now used in the civic, RSX, accord, element... this should be a very swappable engine...

i tried to get pics today...but the car is fenced off now and spining in a display... the specs on the car have not been released...
being that it is a K series engine, the other K series transmissions can be used... just like swapping a crv 4wd engine...the 4wd is in the tranmission.
the honda city and beat were also available boosted besides the legend. but yes, this is not the first HONDA...but it is the first ACURA ( US MARKET )

it is a bold move and i think it will pay off. boost is the replacement for displacement and with the variable turbo technology, it will offer a feeling like a larger engine with no noticable lag or surging.

The thing looks like the bastard child of an RSX and an MDX, but nobody's really sure who's the daddy, since it looks more like a TL
Incestuous.

welcome to this year mike salem. is it cold in anchorage? last years article did not have final specs, all items were prototype with no complete drivable vehicle. the actual release of a finalized vehicle was at detroit.

I hope so!
I hope the RSX will stick around and if it does have the 2007 (or later) redesign I think it would be cool to have a variation of this engine and SH-AWD.

Also, according to what I read, yea 2.3L ivtec, but where did it specifially say it was a K-series? </TD></TR></TABLE>
This has been in the works for a few years and sizes have ranged from 2.2 to 2.4 with 240hp the goal
The RDX has been in development for some time now and I heard about this motor at least a year and a half ago if not 2
I think it will come to market and be the beginning of a whole new Honda Tuning era of factory boost apps

the only catch with this swap is hood clearance if you want to just drop it in. i think if the intercooler is relocated if the powerplant is swapped, then this thing is going to be bad ***.
