I am at the Detroit Auto Show working and yesterday, Acura introduced their new light truck named the RDX. It is basically a small SUV made for the road more than the trails. The highlight of this platform is the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder iVTEC TURBO. Yes, TURBO Honda from the factory. There hasn't been a turbocharged Acura ever in production, so this is a first. It will produce 260 ft-lbs of torque and 240 horsepower in stock form. It rides on 19 inch wheels and has lots of goodies. The pictures included are press release pictures, I do not have the actual pictures of the car...I didn't expect to take pictures...I'm working. The price is not determined yet but the car will be available by summer time.
Since the K series is now used in the civic, RSX, accord, element... this should be a very swappable engine...

actually there was a boosted version of a "honda" well known as the acura Legend here in Japan i belive it was the 2.7l turbo .. i just got to find pictures of it somewhere on my computer when i get home
that is a pretty sexy car, even if it is an SUV. the new engine is exciting; let's hope it doesn't get watered down for the production model.

it is on display at the acura booth. it is sitting at the corner in a rotating round display... fenced in... can not play with it. i couldn't even with my badge... volvo also showed their c30 concept. it is a hatchback making 260 hp.
the rdx on display is supposed to be what you see on the showroom floor...they have already watered it down from what the little japanese guy said. they had to drop the power and boost because it needs to be ULEV certified for the future. honda is dedicated to global environmental improvement and responsibility.

i know there are turbo HONDA products. there are also boosted versions of the CITY and BEAT. this is the first turbo ACURA product. the legend was a HONDA not an ACURA in boosted form.

i think not having to deal with the flat 4 configuration is a benefit. i myself have no more hondas in my garages and am waiting for my new 06 wrx wagon, i can't wait to see my valve covers leaking oil like my last subaru.
