same **** happened to me. when i put down my e-brake, it felt like the handle was just moving down, and the cable was still engaged. i think someone told me to go under the car and lube up the brake cable real good.
where exatly is the ebrake cable located ?????
and btw the Ebrake cable only stops one rear side on the wheel... so is it the right hand side or the left cuz if its the left then obviosly its not the ebrake but something else

I have a 1994 accord and the cable splits and goes to both sides of the car and you have to adjust it every time you do the brakes.
both sides ???? i heard that all ebrakes only work on only one of the rear wheels...
anyways waht do i do should i just tow to a garage or try to take the wheel off and spin it and see if it unjams ?

sorry im retarded yeah both sides have cables..... i just took my middle console out so i can see the cables behind the ebrake... and yeah the right cable is stuck it wont move in or out, the left cable is fine i think i can drive to a garage im worried i'll get in snow and i wont be able to move but yeah anyways is there anythin i can do to unlease the cable ?
see if you can remove the drum that is not spinning,, it might be hard since it is stuck...........but if you can, you need to release the pivot arm , that's what most likely is frozen, you will see what i am talking about once and ( or ) if you are able to remove the drum ... i would not drive the car is the wheel is locked, have it towed to a garage..

ok thanks i will try to take the drum off.. there are no bolts right it just comes off soon as u take the wheel off ?
im prety sure its locked half way... ppl drive with thier handbrake up all the time.. the garage is 10mins away you think somethin will get worse if i save 100$ and just drive there

after mine locked up on me...i was pissed. i was late to go somewhere. so what i ended up doing was giving my hard alot of gas. i would go hard, then stop hard. i don't know why. but after i did that for about 3 minutes, the cables let go of the brakes. i dont' suggest you try my method, but hey it worked for me. now i just keep my car in first gear and i dont' even bother to kick up the e-brake during the winter.
so u just kept slamming the brakes and it worked ?..... u didnt play around with the handbrake it self... i teid doing that for 10mins pulling it up as hard as i cant and back down.. the ****** right line is complelty suck there not moving up or down... AARGGGG
Just pull the wheel off and wiggle the cable, maybe even spray some lube on it if you can. I tried driving with mine hoping the cable would release instead the tire blew from dragging it.
So try to get the cable un stuck before you drive. Also I dont know how cold it is there but maybe some heat on the cable will convince it to free up

there is an access hole wher you can use a screwdriver to turn the self adjuster to retract the shoes. try that.
this is the best that I can do

See the hole at the top of the backplate? that is where you back off the self adjuster

i don't know what thats making me laugh so much
well i guess i was just lucky. i drove around with the ebrake down. when i put the ebrake down and pulled it up, it went up as if it weren't holding nothing in place (like the drums weren't activating)

im gonna take the drum off tomorrow.. bang it with a hammer... yank the **** out of it and then redjust it if i can figure out how to do that.. then slam the brakes if the above ddint do anythin lol
WTF? Driving on locked brakes is NOT a good idea and i wouldn't suggest that to anyone...thats if you care about your vehicle that is...
Anyways, if you don't know how to adjust your rear brakes, you probably can't figure out what the release arm is either
So i'd take it to a shop.
Pulling up on the E-Brake will only cause it to do more damage and lock even tighter, which sounds like you already did that...
When you apply your E-Brake, the shoes expand in the drum, causes the wheel to stop...without your foot on the brake pedal. When they're stuck, its stuck open, so you wiggle the cable loose, or you take off the drum and turn the adjustment back (making the shoes come in more) You should be able to use a 8mm by 40mm to screw into the 2 holes on the drum (that's the easiest way i do them
) to get them off...pounding shouldn't be necessary.
good luck
